Goods in a bonded warehouse may undergo the usual forms of handling intended to preserve them, improve their appearance or marketable quality, or prepare them for distribution. Permission, limits and the effect on duties.
Goods that have not entered free circulation can be held in a bonded warehouse without paying import duties, and as a rule there is no time limit on how long they can stay. The legal basis in the Customs Law and the VAT Law.
General bonded warehouses are licensed as Type A, B or F; private ones as Type C, D or E. The difference lies in who is liable for the goods and who lodges the declaration. A short summary under the Turkish Customs Law and Customs Regulation.
