Paper Reel Storage
A reel travels on its own, not in a box: its surface, edges and core take direct contact. It is lifted with a clamp, stacked on a level floor and its humidity is monitored.

What are paper reels sensitive to?
A reel crushed at the edge tears while feeding on the press; from that point the product is scrap. Loss of value starts at the surface and the edges.
That is why the equipment matters as much as the product. Clamp pressure is set to the grammage and diameter of the reel: too much crushes the core, too little lets the reel slip and fall.
Paper takes in and gives off moisture. Unbalanced humidity causes waviness, curl and inconsistent printing. A level floor, cleanliness and a stable indoor climate are therefore part of the job.

How we store this product
Six rules, valid from the moment a reel comes through the gate until it leaves.
The right stacking direction
Vertical or horizontal: decided by the type, diameter and winding tightness of the reel.
Level, clean floor
The floor is inspected regularly; no reel is set down on a dirty or damaged surface.
Humidity balance
Temperature and humidity are measured continuously; door discipline prevents sudden changes.
Edge and wrapping checks
Edge protection and wrapping integrity are checked separately at receipt and before dispatch.
Condition recorded at handover
Each reel is handed over with its physical condition at receipt and dispatch written down and, where needed, photographed.

Frequently asked
How do you prevent damage to reels?
At three points: clamp pressure set to grammage and diameter, a level and clean floor, and operators authorised specifically for reels. Because the condition of each reel is recorded at receipt and dispatch, it is never unclear at which stage any damage occurred.
How high do you stack reels?
It depends on the reel: diameter, grammage, winding tightness and wrapping all count. For vertical stacking the load the bottom reel can carry sets the limit; for horizontal stacking it is the chocking arrangement. The set limit is never exceeded.
Why does humidity matter so much?
Paper takes in and gives off moisture. Unbalanced humidity causes waviness, dimensional drift and inconsistent printing. That is why the indoor climate is monitored by sensor and any deviation is handled on the same shift.
How does liability work in case of damage?
Because the condition of each reel is recorded at receipt and dispatch, the conversation runs on documents. Insurance and the scope of liability are set out clearly in the contract, according to your product, volume and duration.
